Aleksandra is a fine artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Painting from Arizona State University and an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fashion Design from Phoenix College . She lives and works in Phoenix , Arizona.
She moved form Bosnia and Herzegovina (Former Yugoslavia) in 1997 with her family.
She taught drawing at the Jewish Family Services Center in Phoenix. At Paradise Valley Community College she teaches various art classes in the Continuing Education Division. Her work has been exhibited in both solo and group shows.
She works in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. Color inspires her the most. Her motto:

Photography is a wonderful medium that has allowed me to better communicate with and experience the world around me. Like a lot of my work it is guided more by emotions than intellect. Trailing behind with my knowledge of the digital world and its possibilities I rely on a small portable
( fits- in- my back- pocket) camera ( EXLim Casio10.1) to capture these images.

(detail) Spring Bounty oil 2009 30x40in $850 Having had 3 days off from painting leads me to a slow start this morning. A hot steamy latte gave me the push I needed. First things first, scraping off my palette, trying to keep paint out of my clothes ( impossible) , mixing color ( 15 minutes at least) all the while listening to a book on tape, Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. Who says that starting painting is a simple task? Original artwork...Art classes...Inspiration...
Trying to focus so I can complete some of my works for an upcoming Call to Artist titled Self-Identity. Having lost some of my work space it tends to require more planning and follow through to be in the mood. Anyway, I am super excited that non-credit classes start on August 31st. I am excited and relieved that the exhibit is coming to a close. I will be spending the next couple of days painting there. On Thursday all the work is coming down. I am painting at the library...from 13-19h today August 20th...a couple of paintings are not done but I am not worried...the response from the public has been amazing...some people stay for 10-15 minutes talking to me...kids are wonderful too and ask very specific questions about the subject matter...I would love it if you could give me some feedback on the work as well..
I have challenged myself with a series of paintings depicting figure and face/ head close-ups.... I needed to take a break and worked on my flower painting series...again close-ups of tiny petals blown to 20x their size and unrecognizable as such...I am still figuring this blog thing out but bear with me and I will share the artwork with you...Original artwork. ...Art classes...Inspiration...

PEN AND INK with Watercolor
Explore and apply different texturing techniques (contour lines, parallel lines, hating, crosshatching, dots and stippling) to your work and use them separately or combined to produce countless effects in pen and ink with watercolor.

PAINTING FROM PHOTOGRAPHS
Individual and unique styles will be encouraged for the beginner and intermediate artist, as you learn about oil and acrylic media and how to use either of them to create paintings from your personal photos or favorite pictures. Manipulate, enlarge, crop and combine images to create dynamic compositions.

NEW! STILL LIFE PAINTING
Learn how to arrange and sketch basic geometric and turn them into fruits, flowers and other traditional still life arrangements. We will explore composition, laying out and planning, rhythm, color schemes and much more through various exercises.
Bring your own still life components or paint from the classroom set-up. All painting levels welcome. Students will also receive one on one instruction throughout the course.

INTERMEDIATE OIL PAINTING
This class is designed for students who wish to expand their painting capabilities. We will be covering composition, value and color. Brushwork and knife techniques will be demonstrated and discussed. This is designed to get you moving beyond the “comfort zone” in your painting.
We will also work from still life set-ups in the classroom. Students will also receive one on one instruction throughout the course. Critiques will be given.
